Captain Scott Hitz
I grew up on the shores of Lake Erie, developing a deep connection with the water from an early age. Though my first sailing experience at age 10 left an indelible mark, it would be 24 years before I'd get another chance. For the past 17 years, I've honed my skills racing on Presque Isle Bay, mastering boat handling in all conditions while teaching high schoolers sailing, boat building, and navigation along the way.
Recognizing the privilege of sailing in one of the Great Lakes' few naturally protected harbors, I earned my USCG 25-ton master credential with sailing and towing endorsements in 2020. I founded Your Sailing Adventure with a simple mission: to share my lifelong passion for sailing with everyone, from novices to experienced sailors, creating unforgettable experiences on the beautiful waters of Lake Erie that I've called home since childhood.
First Mate Stephanie Sawtelle
Our Steph has been a valued crew member since 2023, bringing her sailing experience to Lake Erie's beautiful waters. An avid sailor since 2019, Stephanie races with the prestigious Erie Yacht Club Racing Fleet, competing in both local events and longer-distance races across Lake Erie and the Chesapeake Bay. When not racing with EYC's fleet, she can be found sailing her own Hobie Wave catamaran with her partner Cindy. Her passion for water-based activities extends to windsurfing and paddle boarding, making her a perfect fit for helping guests enjoy unforgettable experiences while exploring the scenic beauty around Presque Isle State Park.
Beyond sailing, Stephanie works as an expert on horse-human relationships, facilitating meaningful interactions focused on mind-body connection and emotional intelligence. As an author and public speaker, she shares her holistic approach to wellness through StephanieSawtelle.com. Her natural curiosity, love of stargazing, and appreciation for connecting with nature enhance every sailing adventure, whether it's a thrilling daytime cruise or a tranquil sunset sail across Lake Erie's spectacular waters.
Fun Concierge, LuAnn Gatti
Welcome aboard! As your fun concierge, I'll likely be accompanying you on your adventure. I enjoy kayaking, hiking, rock climbing, biking, and will try anything at least once. I've rappelled off nine story bridges, conquered a mile of fixed-anchor rock climbing, and swam with sharks. I am also the President and Group Training Officer of Northwest Pennsylvania K9 Search and Rescue. I am first aid and CPR certified and have training in wilderness first aid as well. I'm always on the lookout for my next adventure and a fun time! I'm looking forward to helping your inner adventurer create fun memories to be remembered forever.
